Williams set a personal best mark with the second fastest time in the NCAA and is the sixth best time in school history and No. 5 in the world.
Men’s Co-Runner of the Week: Joseph Fahnbulleh, FloridaFlorida’s Joseph Fahnbulleh ran a time of 20.60 seconds in the 200 meters during the South Carolina Invitational. A new personal best for Fahnbulleh and a facility record, his time ranks third in the nation and in the world, as well as No. 6 in school history.
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week: Thomas Mardal, FloridaIn his first performance of the year, Florida’s Thomas Mardal threw for 23.14 meters (75 feet, 11 inches) in the weight throw at the South Carolina Invitational. Mardal registered a new personal-best mark that ranks first in the nation and second in school history.
Men’s Freshman of the Week: Eliud Kipsang, AlabamaWith a time of 3:57:83, Alabama’s Eliud Kipsang shattered a 21-year old program record in the men’s indoor mile at the South Carolina Invitational. The rookie captured his first sub-four mile with a 28.9 final 200m and broke the facility record. He recorded his third career victory in the mile with a SEC-leading and national No. 5 time.
Women’s Co-Runner of the Week: Athing Mu, Texas A&MTexas A&M’s Athing Mu broke the World U20 400m indoor record, pending ratification, with a time of 50. 52 at the Charlie Thomas Invitational. Her time broke 2011 Bowerman winner Jessica Beard’s 10-year old school record of 50.79, and it was also a meet record. It ranks No. 4 all-time in American and collegiate history and is an NCAA-leading and world-leading time.
Women’s Co-Runner of the Week: Abby Steiner, KentuckyKentucky’s Abby Steiner earned three wins at the South Carolina Invitational, sweeping the sprint double in the 60-meter and 200m dashes and running the fastest leg on the victorious 4×400-meter relay. Coming into the meet with the nation’s best time in the 200, her clocking of 22.69 seconds improved the time further and set the facility record at the South Carolina Indoor Track and Field Complex. Earlier in the day, Steiner blazed the 60m straightaway with a time of 7.24 seconds. She capped her day as part of UK’s winning 4×400 relay, posting the fastest leg with 51.75 seconds.
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week: Hannah Jefcoat, TennesseeTennessee’s Hannah Jefcoat broke her own all-time Lady Vol record in the pole vault Saturday afternoon, clearing a personal-best height of 4.34 meters (14-2.75) at Virginia Tech’s Doc Hale Elite Meet. Jefcoat’s performance currently ranks No. 6 in the NCAA this season and third in the SEC.
Women’s Freshman Runner of the Week: Talitha Diggs, FloridaFlorida’s Talitha Diggs ran a time of 52.34 to win the 400 meters during the South Carolina Invitational. A new facility record, her time ranks third in the nation and eighth in school history.
